Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 24 February 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Causal Blog collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our website and services, including the AI content analysis feature.

1. Who We Are

Causal Blog is an AI-powered blogging and knowledge platform operated by Causal Blogs. The platform provides users with curated editorial content across topics such as technology, current affairs, science, and culture — alongside an AI feature that lets readers explore possible outcomes and deeper implications of published articles.

Causal Blogs also develops Orion, a desktop application. Orion operates entirely locally on your device — it does not transmit any personal data, usage data, or telemetry to Causal Blogs servers. This Privacy Policy does not apply to Orion. Orion's data practices are described in its End User License Agreement provided at the time of installation.

For any privacy-related concerns, you may contact us at support@causalblogs.com.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Full name and email address when creating an account
  • Payment and billing details when subscribing to a paid plan (processed securely via our payment provider — we do not store raw card details)
  • Queries and prompts submitted to the AI content analysis feature
  • Messages submitted via our Contact form
  • Content you publish on the Platform as a registered contributor
  • Affiliate links submitted to your Store, which are processed through Google Safe Browsing API and our AI moderation system for spam and safety verification

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Session cookies required to keep you logged in during your visit
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the platform — only with your explicit consent
  • Log data including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of visit

2.3 AI Interaction Data

When you use the AI content analysis feature, your queries are transmitted to Google Gemini for processing. Google's privacy policy governs their handling of this data. We additionally log your queries and the AI responses generated on our own systems for the purposes described in Section 3.

Query logs are associated with your account if you are logged in, or stored anonymously if you are not. We do not use your queries or AI interaction data to train any AI models. AI query history is retained for 12 months from the date of interaction, after which it is permanently deleted.

For details on how Google handles data submitted to Gemini, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Causal Blog platform and AI feature
  • To process subscription payments and manage your account
  • To send transactional emails such as account confirmations and subscription receipts
  • To analyse usage patterns and improve content strategy
  • To respond to your contact form submissions and support queries
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations

We will not use your personal data for purposes materially different from those listed above without notifying you and, where required, obtaining your consent.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA & UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following legal bases as required by the GDPR and UK GDPR:

  • Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide the services you have signed up for, including account management and subscription billing
  • Legitimate interests: Analysing platform usage, preventing fraud, and improving our services — where these interests are not overridden by your rights
  • Consent: Analytics cookies and any marketing communications — you may withdraw consent at any time
  • Legal obligation: Retaining payment records and complying with applicable law

EEA and UK users have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection supervisory authority. UK users may contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. EEA users may contact their national data protection authority.

5. Cookies

Causal Blog uses cookies in two categories:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the platform to function, including session management to keep you logged in. These cannot be disabled without affecting core functionality.
  • Analytics cookies (optional): We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the platform. These cookies are only set with your explicit consent. You may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your cookie preferences or browser settings.

You may disable non-essential cookies at any time through your browser settings or our cookie preference controls. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use any platform features.

6. Third-Party Services

Causal Blog integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Google Analytics — for usage analytics (only with your consent)
  • Google Gemini AI — for powering the AI content analysis feature
  • Payment gateway partners — for processing subscription payments securely
  • Google Safe Browsing API — for verifying affiliate links submitted to user Stores against known malicious and spam URLs

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party for their marketing purposes. We do not share your data with third parties except as necessary to provide our services or as required by law.

7. Data Security

We take the security of your personal data seriously and implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit using HTTPS/TLS
  • Restricted access to personal data on a need-to-know basis
  • Secure third-party payment processing — we never store raw card details on our servers

While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

8. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained for as long as your account is active
  • AI query and conversation history is retained for 12 months from the date of interaction
  • Payment records are retained as required by applicable law (typically 7 years)
  • Contact form submissions are retained for 2 years
  • Anonymous analytics data may be retained for longer periods in aggregated, non-identifiable form

You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at support@causalblogs.com. Deletion requests will be processed within 30 days. Note that we may retain certain data where required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.
